Museum of the conscrits Villefranche sur Saône

Between 2000 and 2006, the Conscription Museum, a permanent exhibition, retraced two centuries of military conscription (1798-1998): recruitment of volunteers, drawing of lots, replacement, review board... In December 2006, the disaster that hit the Maison du Patrimoine led to the disappearance of this museum and its closure for a full year. The choice was then made to refocus the museum's theme on the traditions of conscript festivities and in particular on the Villefranche-sur-Saône festival, without however disregarding its origin, which is inseparable from conscription.
